NEOTAME

Neotame is an artificial sweetener approved by the FDA in 2002.
It is derived from aspartame but is much sweeter, approximately 7,000 to 13,000 times sweeter than sugar.
Unlike aspartame, neotame is heat stable, making it suitable for use in cooking and baking.
It does not contain phenylalanine, making it safe for individuals with phenylketonuria (PKU)
Neotame is used as a sugar substitute in various foods and beverages, including soft drinks, dairy products, baked goods, and chewing gum.
It provides sweetness without adding calories and is commonly found in “diet” or “sugar-free” products.
While regulatory agencies have deemed neotame safe for consumption at recommended levels, there has been some controversy regarding its safety and potential health effects.
